The Green Dragon Standard Level Two focuses on further understanding of environmental responsibilities and taking action to ensure that these obligations are met.
In order to achieve Level Two, an applicant must have achieved all the requirements of Level One in addition to the requirements set down in Level Two itself.
There are five main elements to this second level of the Green Dragon Standard. These elements are designed to build upon the initial steps taken in Level one to work towards a more robust environmental management system, whilst still being relevant to the smaller organisation.
The elements of Level Two include:
Register of Legal & Other Requirements
Using the information gathered as part of the Environmental Review for Level one, the organisation should identify and record all environmental legislation and other obligations that are applicable to the operations of the organisation.
Managing Legal Compliance - Emergency Preparedness
The organisation must identify emergency situations and their consequences and establish procedures to avoid or control them. Steps should be taken to ensure compliance with the identified environmental obligations.
Communication & Competence
All employees should be aware of key environmental impacts and relevant legal issues. Key staff within the organisation must be competent in the their roles when these could have legal or environmental consequences, and those working on behalf of the organisation must be involved in environmental policy goals.
Environmental Records
Sufficient documental must exist to ensure legal compliance and demonstrate the effective functioning of the Environment Management System (EMS).
Organisations achieving Level Two of the standard will receive a certificate demonstrating their commitment to environmental management, and their company details and environmental policy will be registered on this website. Additionally, they are eligible to display the Green Dragon Logo on promotional material and letterheads etc.
The organisation will be re-audited annually to ensure the standard is being maintained
